Karl K. Berggren is the leader of the electrical engineering department in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. He holds the title of Julius A. Stratton Professor in Electrical Engineering and Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2016, he was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his work in creating tiny electronic structures smaller than 10 nanometers. In 2015, he was also named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Berggren earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University in 1990 and completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1997.
