Plot

In late August 2016, Paweł, a high school teacher from Warsaw, moves to Dobrowice. He begins looking into the murder of a student named Asia, who is later revealed to be his unknown daughter. During this time, Paweł starts a relationship with Marta, and she becomes pregnant. He discovers corruption and illegal activities among local police and some students. Paweł meets Ewelina, a young journalist who helps him with his investigation.

In 2017, after solving the case, Paweł is forced by Inspector Radosław to work secretly at a private school in Wrocław. At this school, three students—named Iwo, Magda, and Tymek—had disappeared before Paweł arrived. These students were trained by a Polish intelligence officer named Karol to gather secret information. Iwo causes harm to people at the school. Paweł uses Ewelina to help him investigate a group of people preparing for disasters and planning dangerous attacks. Karol kills Ewelina to hide his connection to Iwo. Tymek steals police records and kills Radosław. Magda kills Karol to stop him from escaping punishment. Paweł refuses to continue working for Polish intelligence agents.

Five years later, in August 2022, Paweł is released from jail without being convicted of any crime. He returns to Małomorze as a teacher. He reconnects with Bogdan, who runs cruises and uses local students as crew members. Paweł learns about the disappearance of a boy named Kacper during one of these cruises. A local police officer named Ewa is investigating the case. Ewa’s daughter, Ada, is Kacper’s friend. Kacper’s father, Waldemar, is involved in illegal activities. Waldemar’s associates, Olaf and Robert, help him. These men are protected by Ewa’s boss, Zbyszek. Paweł and Ewa separately investigate the death of Waldemar’s worker, Iwan. Paweł’s determination grows stronger after Bogdan dies, officially due to drowning while drunk. Paweł later meets Marta again and asks to see their daughter, Milena.
