Frank McSherry is a computer scientist. His research focuses on distributed computing and information privacy.

He is recognized, along with Cynthia Dwork, Adam D. Smith, and Kobbi Nissim, as one of the co-inventors of differential privacy. For this work, he received the 2017 Gödel Prize. With Kunal Talwar, he developed the exponential mechanism for differential privacy. This achievement earned them the 2009 PET Award for Outstanding Research in Privacy Enhancing Technologies.

McSherry has also contributed to stream processing systems. In 2019, he started a company called Materialize, which creates streaming databases. He currently serves as chief scientist and chief technology officer at the company.
