Fred Pollack is a retired engineer who worked with microprocessors. He contributed to the development of several Intel chips, including serving as the lead engineer for the Intel iAPX 432, the lead architect for the Intel i960, and the lead architect for the Pentium Pro.

He focused on superscalar design. A principle known as Pollack's Rule is named after him. This rule explains that improvements in microprocessor performance from better design are roughly proportional to the square root of the increase in complexity. Pollack worked for Intel and left the company in 2001.
