The Cor Baayen Award is given each year to a young researcher who shows great potential in computer science and applied mathematics. The award was started in 1995 to honor the first president of ERCIM, the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics.
To be considered, a researcher must have earned their PhD within three years before the annual nomination deadline. A researcher may only be nominated once for this award. The winner receives a check for 5,000 euros and a certificate. They are also invited to attend ERCIM meetings in the autumn following the award. An article in ERCIM news lists the winner’s name and the names of all nominees for that year.
